TOM HERR - Saturday, September 27, 1-4 pm

Tom Herr played 13 seasons with the Cardinals ('79-'88), Twins ('88), Phillies ('89-'90), Mets ('90-'91) & Giants ('91).  The switch-hitting second baseman hit .271 in 1,514 games, collecting 1,450 hits.  Herr hit .323 in '83 and .302 in '85.  He led the Cards in RBIs in '85 (with 110) and '86.  An excellent fielder, Herr teamed with Ozzie Smith in St. Louis as one of the top DP combos in baseball.  A solid contact hitter, Herr batted #2 or 3 in the lineup and was always a threat to steal.  From April '81 thru May '83 Herr never went more than two games without a hit.  Herr hit a walk-off grand slam vs. the Mets in'87.  He played on 3 Cardinal pennant winners in the 80's and was selected a starter at 2B in the '85 All-Star game.  Herr hit .287 in '89, his only full season with the Phillies.  He managed in the minors from '05 thru '07.  Herr, now age 52, still resides in his native Lancaster, PA.

MIKE TORREZ - Sunday, September 28, Noon-3 pm

Mike Torrez pitched 18 seasons with the Cardinals ('67-'71), Expos ('71-'74), Orioles ('75), A's ('76-'77,'84), Yankees ('77), Red Sox ('78-'82), Mets ('83-'84), compiling a 185-160 record in 494 games, 458 as a starter.  Torrez hurled a 1-hitter vs. the Mets in '70.  He became a dominating pitcher with the Expos, winning 16 in '72 and 15 in '74.  The 6'5" right hander from Kansas won 15+ games 7 times, 6 in consecutive years with 5 different teams.  Torrez was 20-9 with the orioles in '75, posting a 3.06 ERA in 270 innings.  Pitching 200+ innings 10 times, Torrez posted a career ERA of 3.96.  He had 117 complete games and 15 shutouts.  He pitched 2 complete game wins in the '77 World Series vs. the Dodgers for the Yankees.  Torrez tenure in Boston was marred when the Yankees' Bucky Dent hit a dramatic playoff game winning homerun in '78.  Torrez, now age 62, lives in Illinois.
